The HealthSouth Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in Ludlow, MA is Joint Commission Certified and specializes in physical rehabilitative care across a wide-array of diagnoses.

The responsibility of the Nutrition Clerk is to obtain diet orders and make changes to the nutrition treatment plan for our patients via the computer.  The clerk accurately prepares the patient menus daily and menus are passed to patients. The clerk picks up selected menus daily.  Patient visitation to assist with the menu selection process is an essential part of the clerk’s job.

 

The menus are checked for accuracy of diet and consistency restrictions. Corrections are made, as needed.  The clerk is also responsible for updating the patient’s profile with preferences, as identified.  The incumbent must be able to identify potential problems and issues related to exceeding patient and family satisfaction.

 

The clerk produces multiple tallies to guide food service staff in preparing patient meals. They will also participate in tray line checking and tray assembly.

 

The ideal Nutrition Clerk possesses excellent time management skills and is able to work independently.  They must maintain workplace professionalism via dress or appearance, attendance, positive attitude and friendly demeanor as well as maintain a high level of patient confidentiality.

 

The incumbent should possess good written and oral communication skills. Problems or concerns are communicated to the Clinical Dietitian as needed.

 

The clerk should possess very good organizational skills and should have a focus on attention to detail.

 

No hospital nutrition clerk experience necessary- willing to train the right individual.

 

The clerk position is staffed daily, therefore, weekends and holidays may be required.

License or Certification: - Food Handlers course as required by state or county Total Education, Vocational Training and Experience: - High School diploma or equivalent. - Minimum one year experience as a Diet Clerk/Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility preferred.

 

The incumbent is required to follow the Clinical Nutrition Department’s policies and procedures.
