Job Description

The Regional VP, Controller role will support the 23 hospitals (24 by Fall 2019) in the southwest region. The regional office, where this position will be based out of, is in Cypress, TX (regional office address (housed in the Encompass Health Cypress hospital): 13031 Wortham Center Drive Houston, TX 77065).

The Regional VP, Controller has a dotted line relationship to the Controller at each inpatient rehabilitation hospital in the southwest region and supports the Controller in their role of directing and supervising the complete accounting system and financial function of the hospital.  This includes charges, billing, A/R, cash receipts, collections, A/P, payroll, general ledger, forecasting, budgeting, internal controls, and audits. The Regional VP, Controller is responsible for helping to create an environment and culture that enables hospitals to fulfill their mission by meeting or exceeding goals, conveying the organization's mission to staff, adhering to all internal controls, holding staff accountable for performance, and motivating staff to improve performance.

This role will require travel including visits to the region’s hospitals and monthly trips to the home office in Birmingham, Alabama for operations meetings.

License or Certification: - CPA preferred but not required Education, Training and Years of Experience: - Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance - Minimum of four years financial management experience, preferably in healthcare. Machines, Equipment Used: - General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer. Physical Requirements: - Good visual acuity and ability to communicate. - Ability to lift a minimum of 10 pounds and ability push/pull a minimum of 25 pounds, which includes the lifting, pushing and/or pulling of supplies and equipment. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements. Skills and Abilities: - Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively. - Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner. - Ability to work independently without supervision. Environmental Conditions: - Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment. - Handicapped accessible. - May work under stressful circumstances at times. Proficiency or Productivity Standards: - Meets established attendance standards. - Adheres to dress code including wearing ID badge. - May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines. - May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts. - May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
