Job Description:

Encompass Health’s Home Office in Birmingham, Alabama is currently searching for a dynamic individual to work as a Part-Time Receptionist. The Part-Time Receptionist is responsible for greeting, directing, and assisting all employees, guests, and vendors who enter our lobby, various clerical duties, customer service and data entry. The position communicates comfortably with anyone that approaches the area or contacts via the phone, and relates to others in a professional and pleasant manner. The Part-Time Receptionist organizes the clerical workload amidst frequent distractions and interruptions and serves as a communication and information center for the company.

The Part-Time Receptionist will work 11am to 3pm Monday through Friday and fill in when the Full Time Receptionist(s) are on PTO.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Answer and direct incoming and outgoing calls promptly and courteously
  • Schedule and reserve meetings for Jay Grinney Hall (large conference area)
  • Ensure meeting rooms are set up and broken down on time
  • Notify appropriate departments of meeting schedules on a weekly basis and any changes that occur before meetings
  • Assist meeting planners using Jay Grinney Hall during their meetings
  • Ensure proper management of loaner badges
  • Meet customer service expectations for incoming and outgoing calls, employees and guests
  • Work 8 hours per day when needed as coverage for Full Time Receptionist(s)
  • Other assigned responsibilities

Requirements and Essential Job Functions:

Education, Training and Years of Experience:

  • High school education or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of six months previous front desk experience or equivalent preferred

Machines, Equipment Used:

  • General office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax machine, calculator, computer

Physical Requirements:

  • Good visual acuity and ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 30 pounds. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling are undertaken which exceeds these minimum requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision

Environmental Conditions:

  • Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment
  • Handicapped accessible
  • May work under stressful circumstances at times

Proficiency or Productivity Standards:

  • Has regular, reliable and predictable attendance and punctuality
  • Adheres to dress code
  • May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
