Position Purpose:

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Specialist serves within the company’s DEI department supporting the execution of the company’s vision, strategy, and action plan for DEI. Under the direction of the DEI Manager, the incumbent focuses on internal and external responsibilities for managing specific initiatives that support the company’s strategy to achieve measurable outcomes that integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into the organization’s overarching goals for workforce development, supplier diversity, patient experience, and community partnerships.

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Assists in developing the company’s DEI initiatives and provides direct support to hospital and home office diversity related programs.
  • Reviews the current diversity policies and practices in order to identify improvement opportunities to align with the company’s goals.
  • Manages the annual DEI calendar, including providing logistical planning, coordination, and support for enterprise DEI events and initiatives as well as standing stakeholder meetings and agendas.
  • Partners with the Talent Acquisition team on recruiting strategies designed to attract employees from diverse backgrounds.
  • Partners with the Marketing team to draft internal communications and external social media posts that articulate company news, updates, events or celebrations.
  • Creates and distributes monthly communications such as event reminders, educational opportunities, and newsletters.
  • Serves on diversity committees as a thought partner and liaison.
  • Assists with training within hospitals for DEI.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners and departments to maximize program/initiative management within DEI.
  • Collects and analyzes statistical data to evaluate the company’s advancement on strategic inclusion, diversity, and equity projects.
  • Manages the DEI SharePoint page.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus! 

 

Qualifications:

License or Certification:

  • SHRM or HRCI certification is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of comparable work experience in DEI
  • Three years of related experience in program development or management within DEI, human resources, or another related area
  • Technologically savvy and has demonstrated excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Excel experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated skill to interpret and draw inferences from quantitative data

Machines, Equipment Used:

  • General office equipment such as computer/laptop, telephone, copy/fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc.
  • Microsoft Office software, to include Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Visual acuity, speech recognition, speech clarity.
  • Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 15 pounds. Reasonable assistance may be requested when lifting, pushing, and/or pulling exceeds these minimum requirements.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Oral communication, written communication, fluency in English, active listening.
  • Information ordering, deductive reasoning, social perceptiveness, time management, critical thinking.
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines in a detail-oriented manner.
  • Ability to work independently without continuous supervision.
  • Demonstrated skill to interpret and draw inferences from quantitative data
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and change direction as needed in a fast-moving environment
  • Ability to problem-solve, be resourceful, and exercise good judgment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • High degree of discretion and experience working with privileged, confidential information

Environmental Conditions:

  • Indoor, temperature controlled, smoke-free environment.

  • May work under stressful circumstances at times.

Proficiency or Productivity Standards:

  • Has regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Adheres to dress code including wearing ID badge.
  • Adheres to Standards of Business Conduct.
  • May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed to meet deadlines.
  • May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • May be required to travel.
