Encompass Health - Home Health & Hospice is searching for a Claims Specialist to join our Medicare billing team in Dallas, TX.


The Claims Specialist is responsible for the daily support of multiple departments within the revenue cycle arm of Encompass Health. This position will:

  • Ensure daily billing occurs for traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage plan per department policy.
  • Be the primary point of contact to ensure that all claims are initiated out of our EMR and are transmitted successfully to their destination.
  • Collect all necessary information to prepare and transmit claims; submit clean claims electronically per payer guidelines.
  • Manage daily OASIS submissions and confirm receipt of files from file transfer vendor.
  • Notify department management of operational concerns with OASIS submissions, rejections and/or file management issues.
  • Utilize vendor processes to confirm claim batch acceptance from payer.
  • Identify trends in rejected, denied or improperly processed claims, and work with department management to implement solutions.
  • Initiate and track technical support tickets for any recurring software issues, either through EMR or claims processing vendor(s).
  • Track any auto cancelled claims and ensure they are rebilled timely and accurately.
  • Prepare and transmit required regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Manage, track and coordinate delivery of requests for billing records from either patients or third parties while adhering to mandated deadlines.
  • Review, track, investigate and coordinate with operational staff all necessary actions required for processing invoices related to consolidated billing for home health.
  • Provide support to branches and other billing staff.


  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have demonstrated competency with computer usage.
  • Two years of experience with Medicare or related billing functions is preferred.
  • Must be organized and able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Must be capable of multitasking while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Must be able to function efficiently and with strong customer service in an atmosphere of high stress and interruption.
  • Requirements:
    • Must possess a valid state driver license
    • Must maintain automobile liability insurance as required by law
